Military Close Quarter Combatives
Military Close Quarter Combat Training

Tactical Edge- Specialist Military Combatives
Tactical Edge was originally conceived as a method of effective close quarter combat training for Special Forces. We teach what we consider to be the most effective combatives method for military applications available today.
"Tactical Edge is the most effective method of Close Combat I have EVER experienced in over 20 years serving in Special Forces. Our unit members regularly attend specialist courses with other units & organisations, & always come back saying that what they were offered was totally inferior to what Mark Davies provides us with his Tactical Edge training. Our members have total confidence in his methods & training, & have used their training in combat with 100% effectiveness. I have no hesitation to endorse Tactical Edge as being the best Combatives system available today"- Sgt M, UK Special Forces.
Role Specific Training for the Warfighter
Tactical Edge's Military Combatives cover every possible need that the Warfighter could require. We mould our training to the particular requirements & role of the unit members being trained. Our Military Training can give personnel outstanding skills in many different combative elements, such as
- Control & Restraint for peacekeeping or law enforcement
- Quick Neutralisation Combatives Training
- Edged Weapons Combatives for Specialised Military Applications
- Less-than-lethal weapons combatives- Tactical Baton
- Improvised Weapons Combatives for Escape & Evasion applications
- Counter Weapons Skills- edged, impact & firearms
Our methods work effectively under the effects of adrenal stress, & have been combat tested & battle proven. One of the greatest strengths of our core combatives system is what we call 'commonality of movement'. The techiques & movements we use during unarmed combatives translate straight over to the use of edged weapons, impact weapons or even improvised weapons. The advantage of this is that the warfighter doesn't have to mentally 'change gears' if his mode of combat changes. This gives a much higher assurance that the soldier will retain their training in the heat of combat.
The benefits of Combatives Training to Military Personnel
There has been a tendency in the past for armed services to take a viewpoint of "we carry firearms so why bother with Unarmed Combatives?"
Firstly, Lt Col Dave Grossman's excellent research has highlighted that psychologically combat becomes harder & harder the closer you get to the enemy. Effective Military Close Quarter Combat training conditions the soldier to operate effectively at the hardest range for them- hand to hand. This increases their overall combative effectiveness, & boosts their self confidence even higher. Good H2H training increases the soldiers all-round effectiveness!
Secondly, military roles are continuously changing. How many people foresaw the roles that our soldiers have to perform today back at the time of the Falklands war? These roles will continue to change & expand. Military personnel now serve almost like Law Enforcement in many peacekeeping roles. They perform plain clothes & undercover work, & they work in war-zones where they can face threats at extreme close quarters in places where firearms are not ideal (Tora Bora cave's for instance). Good H2H skills are VITAL for the safety of personnel in these instances.
It is easy for soldiers to become too 'tool reliant'. Close Quarter Combat training reminds them that THEY are the real weapon. It gives them last ditch survival skills that could save their lives if held hostage, or in an E & E scenario. It gives them skills that allows them to continue the fight if a weapon malfunctions. Specialist Military Combatives are a vital part of modern military training, though it is all too often overlooked.
